WALK FOR PEACE BY PROMINENT RELIGIOUS LEADERS,

PEACEMAKERS AND OTHER KENYAN LEADERS, JANUARY 2ND 2008,18.30pm, SERENA HOTEL PARKING AREA.

Prominent leaders including The Most Reverend Benjamin Nzimbi, The Anglican Arch Bishop, Shabaan Latifu, Director General of The Supreme Council of Muslims in Kenya,peace maker Retired General Lazarus Sumbeiywo and entertainers Nameless,Nyambane and Pinky among others will lead a walk to the party headquarters of PNU,ODM and ODM-K in a candlelit vigil to present a letter calling for dialogue.

This group is diverse – ethnically, religiously, generationally and in terms of gender. They are combined by a single purpose. Kenya is bleeding. Kenya is bleeding from a political crisis that has rapidly resulted led to a social and spiritual crisis. They are working together to respond to the terrible speed and depth this crisis has taken over the last 24 hours. Unless checked, this crisis will plunge Kenya into a complete state of lawlessness, disregard for human rights and the sanctity of life.

They are calling on political parties to realise that the future of Kenya is in the hands of the Kenyan people. They will call upon all Kenyans to immediately cease the violence that is occurring in our towns, villages and communities.
